Need a retreat?
RESTORATION House
For those in vocational ministry
quiet. safe. peace. rest.
When we think of those in full-time vocational ministry, we understand the unique challenges and the need for times of solitude and silence in a safe and restful place. The story of Elisha and the Shunemite couple comes to mind. We know that these folks need a place that is safe, relaxing, and peaceful.
“One day Elisha went on to Shunem, where a wealthy woman lived, who urged him to eat some food. So whenever he passed that way, he would turn in there to eat food. And she said to her husband, “Behold now, I know that this is a holy man of God who is continually passing our way. Let us make a small room on the roof with walls and put there for him a bed, a table, a chair, and a lamp, so that whenever he comes to us, he can go in there.” (2 Kings 4:8-10, ESV)
Hospitality has always been a value to our family. When I was a young missionary living on $400 per month, I loved to have friends over for dinner or a movie. Welcoming people into our home was something my husband and I discussed before we were even married. Our babies started coming, and we continued to open our doors to friends and strangers alike. Throughout their childhoods, we hosted their friends in addition to all the interesting people we wanted to influence our kids. We longed for a culturally rich environment, so we had people from all walks of life and many different countries around our table and in our extra rooms overnight. In addition to hosting people in our home, we built an apartment for one or two people adjacent to our home, and a vacation property for our family in the mountains near Boone, NC that we also offer to ministry groups. While on vacation in Italy, we began to dream about having a place where pastors, missionaries and ministry groups could go to get away, meet with each other and God, or have a personal retreat. This vision is coming to life in Lamon, Italy and will be ready for guests in the fall of 2026.
